George Putnam Fund of Boston - Class A seeks capital appreciation and current income. The fund may invest in any type of security; ordinarily, it invests no more than 75% of assets in common stocks and convertibles. The fund may invest the balance in debt obligations or money-market instruments. The debt portion may not contain securities rated lower than B. The fund may invest up to 20% of assets in foreign securities, including emerging markets; Eurodollar certificates are not subject to this percentage limitation. Class A shares have front loads; B shares have deferred loads, higher 12b-1 fees, and conversion features; M shares have lower front loads and higher 12b-1 fees than Class A.
